I highly recommend you to update to the latest version of WordPress (stable version). Currently 4.8.1. This will help to ensure that you are able to utilize all of the latest features of WordPress.

If your theme is not working here’s what you should do (common issue is missing stylesheet): CLICK HERE

Installing Homeland is just like installing any other WordPress theme. Its a simple process in the 5 steps below.

  • Go to Appearance >> Themes
  • Click Add New Button
  • After that click the button “Upload Theme”
  • Click “browse” button and new window will pop up, please select the zip files of the theme you want to install
  • If everything is done please click the button “Install Now” button and then you’re done…

Next is, we will activate the theme so that you can use it.

  • Go to Appearance >> Themes
  • Hover on the theme screenshot and click “Activate” button.

Once your done, their is a notification message that says “New theme activated.” click on the link to visit your site.

We will first create the menu we want

  • Go to Appearance
  • After that click “Menus”
  • Once you are their just click on “create a new menu” button in right area of the “Edit Menus” tab
  • you will then see a textfield with “Menu Name”, please enter your desire menu name
  • once you already added menu name in your textfield, please click button “Create Menu”

  • After that please select “Pages” box in left side boxes and check the pages you want to display in your “Menu Structure”
  • After that please click the button “Add to menu”
  • Once done you have the ability to drag and drop the menus (you can change order using this)
  • In your Menu Settings below please check the box “Primary Menu”
  • After you change order of the menus you can then click the button “Save Menu” and your done.

IDX plugin also supports “widgets” which is located here “Appearance >> Widgets” and check for “IDX Areas, IDX Listings, IDX Search and IDX Single Listing”. Below are the steps on how to import our theme demo content

  • Log into your site as an administrator.
  • Make sure you activated your theme before proceeding.
  • Go to Tools >> Import
  • Choose WordPress from the list.
  • Upload the demo content homeland.wordpress.xml using the form provided on that page. This file is located in this folder theme-demo-contents
  • You will be asked to map the authors in this export file to users on the blog. Each author, you may choose to map to an existing user on the blog or to create a new user.
  • You will then have the choice to import attachments, so click on the Download and import file attachments” box.
  • Please be patient while WordPress importing all the contents. Posts, Pages, Menus and more are imported. You will need assign the menu a theme location & you’ll need to configure widgets. This is a limitation of WordPress’ import system.
  • DONE

Below are the steps on how to add new custom fields for custom post types, posts and pages. In this example, I will be using the Properties Custom Post Type.

  • Go to “Properties >> Add New”
  • In your top right screen you will see “Screen Options” and click it
  • Once click it will toggle down and you’ll see “Custom Fields” checkbox, just tick the box
  • Once done, scroll at the bottom of your page and you will see “Custom Fields” box and now add your new custom fields.
  • Once your done, click the button “Add Custom Field”
  • Once done, click the button “Publish” to published your new post/page.

Once you already added it in your backend, it’s now time to add it in your frontend, Just add the following code below. theme_example is your new custom field name.
