Margo is a minimalist and simple portfolio template, designed with passion to give you an amazing work. Perfect for designers, illustrators, small agency or any other professional who want to show to the world beautiful works and captivate the audience. Compatible on WordPress 4.7.4

The following document is a detailed user guide to help you get your new website up and running. Please take your time and read through the document carefully and diligently. If you require further assistance, please feel free to contact us. Table of Contents How to Install and Activate a Theme

I highly recommend you to update to the latest version of WordPress (stable version). (currently 4.7.4) This will help to ensure that you are able to utilize all of the latest features of WordPress.

If your theme is not working here’s what you should do (common issue is missing stylesheet): CLICK HERE

Installing Margo is just like installing any other WordPress theme. Its a simple process in the 5 steps below.

  • Go to Appearance >> Themes
  • Click Add New Button
  • After that click the button “Upload Theme”
  • Click “browse” button and new window will pop up, please select the zip files of the theme you want to install
  • If everything is done please click the button “Install Now” button and then you’re done…

Next is, we will activate the theme so that you can use it.

  • Go to Appearance >> Themes
  • Hover on the theme screenshot and click “Activate” button.

Once your done, their is a notification message that says “New theme activated.” click on the link to visit your site.

We will first create the menu we want

  • Go to Appearance
  • After that click “Menus”
  • Once you are their just click on “create a new menu” button in right area of the “Edit Menus” tab
  • you will then see a textfield with “Menu Name”, please enter your desire menu name
  • once you already added menu name in your textfield, please click button “Create Menu”

  • After that please select “Pages” box in left side boxes and check the pages you want to display in your “Menu Structure”
  • After that please click the button “Add to menu”
  • Once done you have the ability to drag and drop the menus (you can change order using this)
  • In your Menu Settings below please check the box “Primary Menu”
  • After you change order of the menus you can then click the button “Save Menu” and your done.

How to set up single language of this theme

Below are the steps on how to set up single language translations.

  • Please make sure you added your .pot files in this folder “wp-content/languages”, create languages folder if folder not exist.
  • once done you can check your language selection here “Settings >> General >> Site Language”

Below are the steps where the margo demo import files located

  • In your Download Package you will see folder “theme-demo-contents” open it
  • Import this file “margo.wordpress.xml”
  • Done

Note: In this folder you will also get the sql file for database (cx_margo.sql)

Below are the steps on how to import our theme demo content

  • Log into your site as an administrator.
  • Make sure you activated your theme before proceeding.
  • Go to Tools >> Import
  • Choose WordPress from the list.
  • Upload the demo content margo.wordpress.xml using the form provided on that page.
  • You will be asked to map the authors in this export file to users on the blog. Each author, you may choose to map to an existing user on the blog or to create a new user.
  • You will then have the choice to import attachments, so click on the Download and import file attachments” box.
  • Please be patient while WordPress importing all the contents. Posts, Pages, Menus and more are imported. You will need assign the menu a theme location & you’ll need to configure widgets. This is a limitation of WordPress’ import system.
  • DONE

Below are the following steps on how to set up default homepage

  • Click on Pages Menu.
  • Select Add New and fill the fields needed to create your page (add homepage).
  • In your page attributes “Template” section select “Homepage”.
  • Click Publish button and your done adding home page.
  • Now go to Settings >> Reading >> Front page displays
  • Select “A Static Page” in your Front page select “Homepage”
  • Click the “Save Changes” button and your done

  • Click Publish button and your done.

  • Click on Portfolio Menu
  • Click Add New Menu in posts submenu.
  • Enter the name of Title, Content and what ever fields needed (Portfolio Options).
  • Select a Featured Image for your portfolio post
  • Click Publish button when your done.

Below are the steps on how to add more portfolio images

  • Click on Portfolio Menu
  • and then click Add New.
  • Enter the name of Title, Content and what ever fields needed.
  • Click the button “Add Media” single or multiple images for your portfolio images.
  • once thickbox popup just click “Upload Files” tab
  • once their just click the button “Select Files” or drop the images and it will automatically uploaded
  • Click Publish button when your done.

Now close the (x) button of the thickbox(popup) Do not click the “Insert to post” button because we are not inserting the images into your post description.

Once thickbox(popup) is close click button “Publish”

How to Create Blog Post

Below are the steps on how to create posts

  • Click on Posts Menu
  • Click Add New Menu in posts submenu.
  • Enter the name of Title, Content and what ever fields needed.
  • Select any of the 5 post format required (Standard, Image, Audio, Video and Gallery)
  • Select a Featured Image for your blog post
  • Click Publish button when your done.

  • Click Add New Menu in posts submenu.
  • Enter the name of Title, Content and what ever fields needed.

  • Select a Video post format in “Format” box located in your right side
  • Scroll at the bottom and you will see “Post Options” box and now select “Video” tab
  • Click Publish button when your done.

  • Scroll at the bottom and you will see “Post Options” box and now select “Audio” tab
  • Click Publish button when your done.

  • Select an Image post format in “Format” box located in your right side
  • Click Publish button when your done.
